Fact and Fiction

Sunday, December 14th, 2008 | Music Instruction | No Comments

Fact

-Not all people can learn to play a musical instument as quickly as some others can.

Fiction

-Some people are in fact unmusical and should not inflict their unmusicality on others.

I have heard all to often the, “I’m not musical excuse”.  Anyone who makes music will quickly read between the lines and come up with what they meant to say, “I’m insecure and afraid that others or ever I might judge myself by the sounds I make while attempting to make music”.

Fact

This is what will happen if you stop making excuses, drop in a local music school and register for music lessons. First, you meet more people that are doing the same as you. Second, you practice, practice, practice. Fourth, you get together with all your amazing new friends and play for each other.

Christmas Recital 2008

If your really lucky a flutest from the local symphony orchestra might just bring her flute and play something for you and your friends with the piano teacher.

Piano Hero

Friday, December 12th, 2008 | The Buzz | No Comments

I asked a piano teacher the other day what new songs her young students are asking her to teach them. She mentioned that they were asking to learn songs that they play at home on Guitar Hero. I have heard from a few different sources recently that the guitar industry is very strong right now. It didn’t take long to see the link. As many of you know the piano is a much superior instrument to the guitar. I can’t help but to think that if maybe there was a Piano Hero, piano sales might go through the roof.
